Handler-Pet Teams visited over 100 students at 2 elementary schools this spring – Woodrow Wilson School in West Allis and in Wauwatosa for their High Interest Days. During these visits teams engaged students in discussions about how they feel when they’re with their own pets and how these feelings form the basis for Animal Assisted Interventions. Teams demonstrated some of the behaviors all Therapy Dogs are Tested on, and with the students’ help, discussed the proper way to approach a strange dog. And the best part, each student was given the opportunity to visit with the dogs!
